Ada

My great-aunt Ada

For this layout I used some papers and chipboard by Blue Fern Studios.

Sanctuary - Botanical Garden
Sanctuary - Bountiful
Sanctuary - Conservatory
Jasmine Collage
Symphony Border
Symphony Corners - Small
Tattered Diamond Bits

And various dies.

Tattered Lace die - Ferns
Spellbinders die - Romantic Rectangles 2
Prima die - Doily 1
Prima die - Flowers
My Favorite Things die - Mini Delicate Doilies

The fern die cuts were cut from a piece of Maja Design paper (the rest using the Blue Fern papers). As usual I layered all the diecuts over a darker copy, offsetting the layers to emphasize the edges.

Walking in the Forest - The Colours of Fall

For the Jasmine Collage and Tattered Diamond Bits chipboard I dabbed on thick gesso with a sponge brush, rubbed Iced Spruce Distress Ink over top and creamy brown Colorbox  chalk ink around the edges with a craft nib.

To make the Tattered Diamond Bits stand out more I used some watercolour pencils in green and grey around them.

The centers of the little red flowers were made by putting a drop of Judikins Diamond Glaze in the center and pouring copper microbeads overtop.

The Symphony Border and Corners were painted black, coated with Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint, then rubbed with the Iced Spruce ink and edged with charcoal chalk ink.

I dipped the stiff pink twine in water to soften it, arranged it into loose curves and let it dry before gluing it onto the layout.

The tiny white flowers were picked off a dollar-store floral stem I bought years ago when I used to make topiaries and flower arrangements (habitats) for my Cicely Mary Barker Flower Fairy ornament collection.

Thanks so much for looking!

  1. Absolutely lovely Tracy! As usual, you chose the perfect color of flowers to match your paper. Am envious of those fern dies...Cute idea to put the microbeads in the center of the flowers. The photo frame die looks lovely with the vintage photo.

Love how you kept the flow going from the printed flowers on the page to the floral arrangement you created. The tattered diamonds and the fern dies are fantastic!
