Mom and Lori, 1959

My mother and my eldest sister Lori in 1959

For this layout I used some Blue Fern Studios paper and some yellow cardstock.

Blue Fern Studios - Serendipity - Chronicle
Blue Fern Studios - Serenditpity - Imagination

I dampened and distressed the edges of the Chronicle paper with my fingers, curling over the edges.  I glued this to another piece of the Chronicle paper which I cut the center out of to use for the small doily die-cuts.

These are the dies I used:

Spellbinders - Triple Foral
My Favorite Things
- Mini Delicate Doilies

As always I layered each die-cut over a darker version, offsetting them slightly to accentuate the edges.

I inked the the die-cut frame around the photo with Mustard Seed Distress Ink to give it more dimension and brighten up the dull yellow of the cardstock which didn't quite match some of the brighter yellow in the background paper.  I also inked around the edges of the Triple Floral diecuts with brown ink and around the doilies with charcoal-coloured ink.

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

Blue Fern Studios
- Timeless Floral Corner
Blue Fern Studios
- Classic Corners
Blue Fern Studios
- Symphony Corner medium

The finish on the Timeless Foral Corner was a bit of trial and error.  I did a white crackle finish at first but didn't like the colour so I randomly rubbed blue paint with my fingertip over spots as well as applied patches of distress stickles.  I then inked around the edges in charcoal grey.

For the other chipboard pieces I painted them black and then did a streaky wash of blue paint overtop.

I applied I'm A-Maized Prills randomly around the layout as well.

Thanks so much for taking a look!

  1. Very pretty layout Tracy! Love the bright colors you chose. The blue wash on the black chipboard really goes perfect with the backside of the Chronicle paper! Lovely details, as always : )
